About Julians Berry Farm

The Farm

Julians Berry Farm and Café originated from humble beginnings in Shaw Road, Whakatane.  Established by Paul's parents, Joan and David Julian in 1975, the need for expansion saw them move to the present location in Huna Road in 2001.  This move, combined with a change in ownership to Paul and Monica Julian, saw the business develop as demand for their berry products grew.

Monica and Paul developed their vision for the farm and café while backpacking overseas in the late 90's. Returning home, they put their ideas into practice, and in 2006 their efforts were recognised by becoming the recipients of the 2006 Eastern Bay of Plenty Chamber of Commerce AAA Small Business of the Year Award .  They didn't stop there, and continued to increase the attractions of the farm, leading to them receiving the AAA 2008 Overall Supreme Award for Business of the Year.

The Julians The Julians

Monica and Paul take an active role in the management of the business, which makes September through March an exceptionally busy time of the year for them.  When they are not managing the business they enjoy an active lifestyle, competing in and supporting a number of local sporting events.  That is, when they have time away from raising the next generation of Julians!

Summer Work

During our peak season over the summer months we employ a large number of locals and travellers.  Jobs range from picking berries out in the fields to supply our shop, through to serving customers in our café.  Of course there are a range of jobs in between.  If you are interested in working with us, check out application details on our FAQs page, and make sure you keep an eye on our Facebook Page and our news page for our vacancy announcements.

Organisations Supported by Julians Berry Farm and Café

Monica and Paul believe strongly in giving back to the community.  Not only do they provide important seasonal work, from September through February, on the farm to local students, but they also sponsor a number of local organisations and events.
